Beach Day and Baptisms!!

July 31st is Joshua Springs Calvary Chapel's Beach Day and Baptism! We will be in Corona Del Mar, and the baptisms will take place around 1 pm. Remember to bring money for parking, food and drinks for your family, and the usual beach stuff! This is a great family day of fun and fellowship! We will see you there!

First Day of VBS!

Today was the first day of VBS here at Joshua Springs and we are happy to report that we had over 230 children from our local community come out and join us! Our theme this year is "Goldy Jones and the REAL Gold Rush". The children sing songs, do crafts, play games, and learn about the amazing love of God! If you would like to join us it is not too late! Come for the remainder of the week from 9 AM- noon ages 4-12.

Also, please be praying for VBS. Many children who attend VBS do not attend church regularly and, for some, this is the first time they hear about the Lord! Pray that their hearts will be open. Also, please be praying for all the volunteers involved, what a tremendous blessing they are to this ministry!

Vacation Bible School!

It is that time of year again: VBS!! It will be July 19-23 from 9 AM till noon. This is for ages 4-12 and there is NO CHARGE! The theme for this year is "Goldy Jones and the Real Gold Rush". We will have praise and worship, Bible teaching, crafts, games, snacks and TONS OF FUN!! Sign your kiddos up in the church office or at the information table on Sunday mornings. The Call 2 Fall

We at Joshua Springs encourage you to come out July 4th at 7:30, 9:00 & 10:40 AM and join us as we answer the "Call 2 Fall" on our knees and pray for our nation. We are living in uncertain times and the only thing that can save our nation is for God's people to join together and pray. We are going to be doing just that, as we unite our hearts on July 4th and pray for our nation: for wisdom for our leaders, for a return to the Lord in our laws and policies, for a move of the Holy Spirit across our culture, and that as a nation we would return to our Christian roots. Love Song Coming May 5th!

The band Love Song will be at Joshua Springs for a reunion concert! This band, along with Pastor Chuck Smith, started the Jesus movement 40 years ago. We invite you to come and hear as they get together once again to minister through their music! The concert will be at 7:00 PM in the Thunderdome and is free (we will be accepting a love offering)! You won't want to miss this!

New Ministries and New Ways to Serve!

We invite you to join us for this first annual dinner and auction event to support our orphanage in Malawi, Africa! There will be some amazing auction items like: a blimp ride over southern California for 4, a flight to Santa Barbara and dinner out, a big screen HD TV, a sailboat ride and BBQ, and so much more!! You can contact the church office for more information!

On another note, we have 2 new ministries starting here at JS! The first is a ministry dedicated to helping blended families. It is called "God's Fusion" and their first meeting will be May 16th at 12:30 pm in our cafe. If you would like to be part of this ministry, contact the church office for more information.

We also have a new photography ministry! Bob Jarrard is working with a photographer, Tommy, to capture pictures of JS events and ministries. Needless to say, this can be a daunting task for one person, so if you are a photographer or love photography, we could use your service in this ministry! Lastly, as many of you know, JS supports missions all around this world. From Malawi, Africa, to the Philippines, to a Bible college in Peru. But one of our most important mission fields is our own backyard. The Lord has called us all to raise up the next generation and Joshua Springs Christian School is one way we answer that calling. We at JS feel it is time to revamp our fundraising efforts in support of the Christian School. In an effort to do this, we have started Joshua Springs Christian School Foundation. If you are interesting in being part of this much needed ministry, please contact the church office.

Learn about how faithful the Lord was to bring the Israelites into the promise land, and the battles that the Lord brought Joshua and his people through along the way! We encourage you to take the time this weekend and get away from the stresses of life and spend the time with the Lord...who never disappoints! There is something for everyone here at Joshua Springs!!

For the Men, we have the Men's retreat quicky approaching. It will be March 19-21 at 1000 Pines in Crestline. The theme this year will be "The Master's Plan" out of Jeremiah 29:11. Be sure to get signed up for this event. Spending a weekend with the Lord never disappoints!! The cost is $125, and scholarships are available.

For the Ladies, we have non-gambling bingo coming up on March 26th. Join us for a evening filled with laughter and fellowship! The cost is $10. Get signed up today!!

For couples (married and engaged), we have a marriage conference on April 16 & 17. It will be here at JS, and is in leiu of the usual Marriage Retreat. We will be doing "Laugh Your Way to a Better Marriage." It will be Friday evening from 7-10, and Saturday morning 9-noon. There will be a continental breakfast, and we will end Saturday with a catered lunch! This will be a great conference as we take on serious marital issues in a realistic and humorous way!!

For those between the ages of 18 and 29, we encourage you to attend our 1829 ministry. They meet Saturday evenings at 7 PM in the Welcome Center Living Room. This is a fresh and young Bible study/ fellowship time!

For the kids, we have High School Youth Group, JR High Youth Group, and children's ministries on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 PM. Elementary kids are grouped by ages and are taught Bible study through fun activities, crafts, and games! Jr High and High School youth groups are a great way for teens to get involved, meet people, and learn God's word in a way that ministers to them!

The 2010 Men's Retreat is coming up soon! March 19-21 the men will head up to 1000 Pines located in Crestline for what is sure to be an awesome weekend with the Lord! More information will be coming soon, but save this date!

Ladies Bingo is also coming up soon! It will be March 26th at 6:00 PM. This is such a great night with lots of laughter and lots of fellowship! Ladies, we encourage you to come out and be a part of this fun event!

It's that time of year again...the Easter Worship Concert will be March 31st at 7 PM. This is sure to be a blessing! Hope to see you there!

Ladies, we invite you to join us for our Women's Ministry Bible Study every Tuesday. This is an awesome time of fellowship and a great way to make new friends! Please note, there is child care for both times.

The cost for the youth retreat is $130, and scholorships are available. Permission slips and sign ups are available in the church office.

This is a special evening for widows, to remind them that they are "Lavishly Loved" by their Heavenly Father. Please RSVP for this event by January 31st.

We pray you all had a happy and blessed New Year holiday!
This week at Joshua Springs all our services and times are back to normal schedule!
Also, on Tuesday, Ladies Bible Study resumes! If you have never attended, we want to encourage you to attend. This is a wonderful time for ladies to be able to get together and study the Word and have a wonderful time of fellowship! The times are 9:30 Am and 7:00 PM and childcare is provided for both times.
On Thursday the InBetweeners are having a meeting in the cafe at 6:30 PM. This is for singles ages 30ish to 50ish. It is a great place to make friends and fellowship.
Just a reminder that Saturday evenings there is something for everyone here at JS! At 6:00 PM in the cafe, Pastor Bob Wagner is teaching through the book of Revelation. It is an awesome study and we encourage you to come and be a part! Then at 7:00 PM Pastor Jerel and Merrily host 1829, for those couples and singles between the ages of 18 and 29. They will be meeting in the "Living Room" here located by the Sanctuary. It is time of fellowship accompanied by a Bible Study.
There are so many ways and things to be involved in here at Joshua Springs! It is our prayer that this new year brings new spiritual growth for all of you as you get increasingly involved in the ministries here at JS!

Today, December 14th, the Thrift Store is having a store wide sale starting at 5:30 PM!! Be sure to stop by and check out the great deals!

For those of you that have kids at JSCS, Tuesday, December 15th is the Elementary Christmas Play. The kids have worked so hard this year, we encourage you to come out and show your support!

On Wednesday, December 16th, the Sheriff's department will be at the JS cafe for Crime Free Senior Living. They will be giving advice and answering any questions you may have. If you would like more information about this event, please contact Grumpy at 760-365-0769 ext.294.

If you enjoy riding horses, we encourage you to get involved in the JS Equestrian Ministry. They are doing a ride on December 19th at Indian Canyons/Palm Springs and there are rental horses available. If you would like more information about this event, please contact the Alfords at 365-6353.

Start your Christmas celebration out right by taking the time to worship our Lord Jesus and remember the reason for this holiday season!! Just a reminder that the Scholastic Bookfair ends on December 11th! Be sure to stop by and check out all the books and gifts available for purchase in time for Christmas! Their hours are 8AM-4:30PM Monday-Friday; Wed until 7PM.

The Way Station is holding their annual Kids Christmas Party on December 12th. If you would like to help with this effort, you can bring an unwrapped toy to the back of the Thunderdome or Sanctuary on Sunday morning or to the church office anytime during the week. As always, the Way Station is accepting food donations.

There will be a Special Needs Meeting on December 13th in the Sanctuary. For more information, please contact Monica Cooper at 760-366-9179.

Ladies! This Tuesday, December 1st, at 7 PM is the Ladies Christmas Party! We encourage all ladies to come on out and join us! This is a free event and we will be playing games with prizes. If your last name is A-P we ask that you bring a finger food, if your last name is Q-Z we ask that you bring a dessert. This is sure to be a great time of fellowship!

Don't forget!! This Saturday, December 5th, is the Holiday Tour of Homes! This event starts at 4:00 PM and goes until 9:00 PM. There are still tickets available in the Church Office for $20/person or $30/couple. What a great way to get into the Christmas spirit! These homes will be all decked out for the Holidays, and there will be many different nativity scenes on display. There will also be a jewelry boutique set up so you can do some Christmas shopping!! All of the proceeds from this event go to the orphans in Malawi.

Also on December 5th at 8:30 AM is the Men's Ministry Golf Tournament at Woodhaven Country Club. All proceeds from this event go to Men's Retreat Scholarships. For more information, please contact Grumpy at 760-792-4143.

The Sholastic Bookfair is here just in time for Christmas!! Be sure to stop by the school library located in F1 get the perfect gift for your young readers!! The hours are: 8AM-4:30PM Monday-Friday; Wednesday until 7PM; Sunday after 2nd and 3rd services.

November 23-28 Events

November 24th is the Life After Fifty Potluck and Food Drive at 6:30 PM in the Sanctuary. This food drive is for the Way Station located in Joshua Tree. They do a tremendous ministry in helping to feed the hungry in our immediate area.
On this note, if you know someone who could use the help this Thanksgiving, encourage them to stop by the Way Station on November 24th; they are giving hope through the message of Christ, and giving away Thanksgiving food baskets.

Ladies! Remember that there is no Ladies Bible Study. They are on a break for the holidays! It will resume January 5th.
In the meantime, there will be a Ladies Christmas Party on December 1st at 7 PM. There is no cost for this event. There will be games with prizes to win! This event is sure to be lots of fun! Get signed up (so we know how many to plan for). Last names A-P please bring a finger food, last names Q-Z please bring a dessert.

On the 25th, we will have a Thanksgiving Eve service in the Sanctuary at 4:30 and 7:00 PM. We will have people from our fellowship sharing their testimonies. This is always a wonderful encouragement, be sure not to miss it!

Take Hwy 62 to I-10, go West on I-10 to Hwy 60. Take 60 to I-215. Go south (San Diego) on I-215 23 miles to Scotts Rd. Turn right on Scotts Rd (which turns into Bundy Canyon Rd) to I-15. Turn south on I-15 go to Baxter exit. Turn right on Baxter. Baxter turns into Central. The road curves and the high school is on the left.

Thanks to our Veterans

Even though Veterans day is over until next year, we still want to continually honor our Veterans and Active Duty Military Personnel for their service to our country. In doing so, we thought we would post this poem. It was written by a 12 year old girl on Veterans Day. We hope you enjoy it!

VETERANS DAY

Long ago as we fight, shooting booming, running for our lives, people live and people go

We now call them Veterans, in our thanks and grace,

They stand in our hearts and shine with the stars, we cry as they go

But they never leave our hearts, they fall with our tears, onto the ground

Special Needs Support Group will be meeting on Sunday, the 15th at 12:30 PM in the Sanctuary.
Also meeting on Sunday, the 15th is the Single Mom's Ministry. They will meet at 2 pm at Kim Lay's house. For more information, please contact Kim at 760-880-2130.
On Tuesday the 17th, Fronsight Minsitry will be meeting at 7 PM in F3. This is a unique ministry committed to ministering to the needs of active duty and veterans and their families. For more information on this, contact Bob Wagner (not the pastor) at r.e.w@frontsightjoshuasprings.org.

We want to encourage all singles ages 18-29 to get involved in the 1829 Ministry! It is an awesome Bible study taught by Pastor Jerel and Merrily. They will be meeting this week, and every week, on Saturday night at 7 PM in the cafe.

Ladies! We encourage you to get involved in Ladies Bible Study! It is a great opportunity to study God's Word, and have some great fellowship time with other ladies. We have a Christmas Party coming up on December 1st, so mark your calendars!
